Locoid is a well-established corticosteroid brand used for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The brand was originally developed by Gist-Brocades (a Dutch pharmaceutical firm) and later became part of the Yamanouchi portfolio. Following a major merger in 2005 between Yamanouchi and Fujisawa, the brand fell under the stewardship of Astellas Pharma.
In more recent years, Astellas divested a significant portion of its dermatology portfolio to LEO Pharma, a Danish multinational pharmaceutical company specializing in medical dermatology. As of 2024 and looking toward 2026, LEO Pharma remains the ultimate owner and global distributor. While the company is headquartered in Denmark, manufacturing for these specific topical products typically occurs in specialized pharmaceutical facilities in Italy and other European locations to serve global markets.
