Eiffel Language (EiffelStudio)

Eiffel is an advanced object-oriented programming language designed by Bertrand Meyer and developed by Eiffel Software. It emphasizes software reliability and maintainability through its core concept of Design by Contract (DbC). The language was originally conceived in France during the mid-1980s by Meyer while he was at Interactive Software Engineering (now known as Eiffel Software).

Today, Eiffel is an ISO-standardized language and is primarily supported by EiffelStudio, an integrated development environment (IDE). While the initial development and intellectual foundations were laid in France, the commercial and technical evolution of the language has been centered in the United States, where the ultimate owner, Eiffel Software, is headquartered.
