Pams is one of New Zealand's most iconic and longstanding private label brands. Originally founded in 1937, it was created by the Foodstuffs cooperative to provide high-quality, affordable pantry staples to New Zealand households during the Great Depression era. The brand has since grown to become the largest selling grocery brand in the country, spanning thousands of products.
While the Pams brand is a New Zealand institution, the raw ingredients like black peppercorns are often sourced internationally from major spice-producing regions like Vietnam or India, then processed or packed within New Zealand. Ownership remains firmly local, held by Foodstuffs, which is a pair of major retailer-owned cooperatives (Foodstuffs North Island and Foodstuffs South Island) that manage prominent supermarket chains like New World, PAK'nSAVE, and Four Square.
The brand is celebrated for its commitment to value and has undergone several branding refreshes to maintain its status as a modern, reliable household name. All Pams products are distributed exclusively through Foodstuffs-affiliated stores across the North and South Islands.
