The Nespresso brand, synonymous with luxury espresso systems, was invented by Eric Favre in 1976 while working for the Swiss multinational Nestlé. The system originally launched in the mid-1980s as a high-end solution for office and home coffee preparation, eventually becoming a global leader in the portioned coffee segment. The VertuoPlus model shown in the image represents a newer generation of Nespresso technology that utilizes centrifugal brewing to create a range of coffee sizes beyond traditional espresso.
Nespresso machines are manufactured through various global partnerships with specialized appliance companies such as Krups, Magimix, De'Longhi, and Breville/Sage. Consequently, assembly occurs in multiple countries, primarily within Europe (such as Hungary and Ukraine for Krups/Magimix models or China for others). The brand remains a core subsidiary of Nestlé S.A., maintaining its headquarters and primary coffee capsule production in Switzerland while distributing its proprietary hardware worldwide.
