ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) rail services

ÖBB (Österreichische Bundesbahnen) is the national railway system of Austria. Originating from the state-owned rail assets of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was formally established in its modern iteration to provide comprehensive passenger and freight rail services across the Alpine nation and into neighboring European countries.

As a state-owned entity, the brand is synonymous with Austrian infrastructure. The operations are managed by ÖBB-Holding AG, which is 100% owned by the Republic of Austria. While rolling stock like trains and locomotives may be manufactured by international partners like Siemens or Alstom, the service itself is fundamentally an Austrian product, maintained and operated from its headquarters in Vienna.
