In 2007, the brand underwent a major transition when it was acquired by the Italian eyewear titan Luxottica. This merger brought Oakley under the same umbrella as other iconic brands like Ray-Ban. Later, Luxottica merged with Essilor to form EssilorLuxottica, the world's largest eyewear company. Today, while Oakley maintains a strong design and manufacturing presence in California for certain high-performance lines, its global production cycle utilizes facilities in Italy, China, and Brazil to meet worldwide demand.
