Tyrkisk Peber (meaning "Turkish Pepper") is one of the most iconic salty liquorice brands in the Nordic countries. Originally invented in Denmark in 1977 by Per Fjelsten, the brand was later acquired by the Finnish confectionery giant Fazer. Known for its intense salmiak flavor and spicy heat, the product has evolved into various formats, including the "Super Salt" soft version shown in the image.
The production of Tyrkisk Peber products is primarily centralized at Fazer’s confectionery manufacturing facilities in Finland. While the brand has Danish roots, it is now deeply integrated into Finnish food culture and exported across Northern Europe and beyond. The brand's signature flame logo and yellow diamond shape have remained largely consistent since its inception in the late 1970s.
Tyrkisk Peber is owned and managed by Fazer Group, a family-owned Finnish company headquartered in Helsinki. Fazer is a major player in the Nordic food industry, operating across bakery, confectionery, and non-dairy product segments. As of 2025 and moving forward, Fazer remains the ultimate owner of the brand, maintaining its status as a premium and staple brand in the salty liquorice market.
