Leijona is one of Finland's most iconic liquorice and salmiak (salty liquorice) brands, originally launched in 1928. The 'Leijona Lauma' variety is a mixed bag of sweets that combines traditional liquorice flavours with fruit-flavored gums, catering to a wide range of candy preferences. The brand is deeply rooted in Finnish culture, known for its distinctive lion logo which reflects its Finnish name ('Leijona' means lion).
Although the brand is quintessentially Finnish in its origin and marketing, its manufacturing and ownership have become international. Today, the brand is owned by Cloetta AB, a leading confectionery company in Northern Europe. While Cloetta maintains a strong presence in Finland, much of the production for their gummy and liquorice products, including the Leijona range, has been moved to their modern manufacturing facilities in Slovakia to optimize European distribution and production efficiency.
