Annie's Homegrown, commonly known as Annie's, was founded in 1989 by Annie Withey and Andrew Martin. The brand was built on the values of providing natural and organic comfort foods, famously featuring 'Bernie', the 'Bunny of Approval,' as its mascot. Originally starting with macaroni and cheese, the brand quickly expanded into snacks, cereals, and dressings, maintaining a strong commitment to non-GMO ingredients and organic farming.
In 2014, Annie's was acquired by the American multinational food conglomerate General Mills. Under General Mills' ownership, Annie's has scaled its distribution significantly, making organic products more accessible in mainstream supermarkets across North America and beyond. While the brand originated as a small-scale operation in Hampton, Connecticut, it now operates under the corporate umbrella of one of the world's largest food companies.
Most Annie's products are manufactured in the United States, utilizing pasta and dairy sourced from various North American suppliers. Due to the high demand and the brand's integration into the General Mills supply chain, production may occur at several facilities across the US and occasionally in other regions to meet local market demands and logistics requirements.
