Nova Brasilia is the most popular and long-standing coffee brand in Bulgaria, known for its strong aroma and traditional taste that has defined the coffee culture in the region for decades. Originally launched as a local Bulgarian brand, it became a household name specializing in finely ground coffee suitable for traditional 'Turkish' or 'cezve' style brewing, as well as modern filter machines.
The brand's journey involves a transition from a local state-associated or early private enterprise to international corporate ownership. Over the years, the brand was acquired by Kraft Foods, which later evolved into Mondelez International. Following the spin-off and merger of coffee divisions, the brand moved under the umbrella of JDE Peet's, one of the world's largest pure-play coffee companies.
Today, Nova Brasilia remains primarily produced in Bulgaria to serve the local and neighboring Balkan markets. Its ownership by JDE Peet's ensures that while the flavor profile remains localized to Bulgarian preferences, it benefits from the supply chain and quality standards of a global leader in the coffee industry headquartered in the Netherlands.
