Bucuria is the largest and most iconic confectionery producer in the Republic of Moldova, synonymous with the country's food industry. Established in 1946 in Chișinău, the brand has grown from a local factory into an international exporter known for its diverse range of chocolates, hard candies, and marshmallows.
The brand's history is deeply rooted in the Soviet-era industrial expansion, where it became a household name across Eastern Europe. Following the privatization of state assets, the company transitioned into a joint-stock venture but maintained its traditional recipes and production facilities within Moldova. Today, Bucuria remains a significant employer and a cultural landmark for the region.
While the brand is quintessentially Moldovan, its ownership structure involves international investment. The majority stake is held by the Russian trade company Trade House 'Valday', which oversees the strategic direction and distribution of the products across the CIS region and European markets.
