Kandia is a heritage chocolate brand with roots dating back to the late 19th century in Timișoara. Originally established as a local confectionery factory, it became one of the most recognizable sweets brands in Eastern Europe. Following several decades of state ownership during the communist era, the brand underwent significant transitions during the post-communist privatization period.

In the 21st century, Kandia's ownership history became particularly dynamic, involving several major international food conglomerates. After being owned by Cadbury and later falling under the umbrella of Kraft Foods through their acquisition of Cadbury, the brand was eventually sold to the Julius Meinl Group. Today, the brand is managed under Kandia Dulce, which remains a leading domestic producer in the Romanian confectionery market, blending traditional recipes with modern manufacturing techniques.
