Kettle Foods began its journey in 1978 in Salem, Oregon, USA, founded by Cameron Healy. However, the UK brand featured in this image has a distinct local history, having been established in Norwich, Norfolk, in 1988 after Healy brought the kettle-cooked method to the British market. The packaging prominently states it is 'Hand Cooked in Norfolk,' reflecting its long-standing manufacturing base at Bowthorpe Park, Norwich, where it sources many of its potatoes from local East Anglian farms.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major food corporations. While originally a small independent operation, Kettle Foods was acquired by Lion Capital, and later by Diamond Foods in 2010. In 2016, Campbell Soup Company acquired Diamond Foods, including the Kettle brand. In early 2019, the European operations of Kettle Foods (including the UK and Ireland business) were sold to Valeo Foods, a major European ambient food group based in Ireland. Today, Valeo Foods manages the brand's production and distribution across the UK and Europe, maintaining its premium positioning in the crisp market with locally sourced ingredients.
