Brets is a flagship brand in the French snack market, known specifically for its flavored ridge-cut potato chips. The brand was founded in 1995 by Alain Glon in Saint-Gérand, Brittany, France. It was created with the mission to support local Bretons potato farmers by providing a direct commercial path for their crops.
To this day, Brets remains an independent, family-owned brand under the company Altho. Unlike many major snack brands owned by global conglomerates, Altho continues to operate primarily out of Brittany, maintaining a strong commitment to local sourcing and regional agricultural development. The manufacturing is concentrated in France, utilizing predominantly French-grown potatoes and local ingredients like the Roscoff onion featured in this variety.
