Innis & Gunn is an iconic Scottish brewery headquartered in Edinburgh, known internationally for its innovative approach to wood-aged beers. The brand was famously launched in 2003 by Master Brewer Dougal Gunn Sharp, who discovered the unique flavour profile of beer aged in bourbon casks while working on a project for a whisky distiller. The flagship 'The Original' is a single malt Scotch golden beer that is matured using bourbon casks, resulting in a smooth, honeyed taste.

While the company has historically utilized contract brewing arrangements with larger partners such as C&C Group (Wellpark Brewery), it maintains strict control over its proprietary maturing and brewing processes. In 2017, the global beverage giant LVMH, through its private equity arm L Catterton, took a minority stake in the business to fuel international growth. Despite these investments, Innis & Gunn remains a proudly independent-minded Scottish company with its heritage deeply rooted in Edinburgh's brewing tradition.
