Petterøe’s is a historic Norwegian brand of tobacco, originally founded in 1905 by Halfdan Petterøe in Oslo. For nearly a century, it was a staple of the Norwegian tobacco market, operated by the H. Petterøe Tobaksfabrikk. In 1972, the company was acquired by the Tiedemanns Tobaksfabrik, which later became part of Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni (Scandinavian Tobacco Group).
Currently, Petterøe’s is owned by Philip Morris International (PMI). Since its acquisition, the manufacturing has been moved from Norway to Denmark. The brand remains highly prominent in the Norwegian market, particularly for its rolling tobacco, despite being owned by a global multinational corporation headquartered in the United States and Switzerland. It is packaged in standardized olive-green packaging as per Norwegian tobacco regulations.
