Chamonix is an iconic French orange-filled soft biscuit that has been a staple of French tea time for over a century. Named after the famous alpine town of Chamonix, these biscuits were first created in 1922 by the historic French biscuit company, L'Alsacienne. The recipe consists of a soft, nonnette-inspired sponge filled with a delicate orange jelly and topped with a thin orange-flavored icing sugar glaze.

Over the decades, the brand transitioned through several corporate hands. L'Alsacienne eventually became part of the LU (Lefèvre-Utile) portfolio under the BSN group (later Danone). In 2007, Danone sold its global biscuit business, including the LU brand and the Chamonix line, to the American multinational Kraft Foods. Following a corporate spin-off in 2012, the brand became the property of Mondelez International, which remains the ultimate owner as of 2026. The biscuits continue to be produced primarily in France, maintaining their heritage as a classic French treat.
