Granado Pharmácias is one of Brazil's most traditional and historic brands, founded in 1870 by José Antônio Coxito Granado in Rio de Janeiro. Known originally for its high-quality pharmaceutical preparations and natural ingredients, it even served the Brazilian Imperial Family.
Today, Granado is a powerhouse in the Brazilian cosmetics market, maintaining its vintage aesthetic while using modern formulations. While the brand remained family-owned for over a century, a significant minority stake (approximately 35%) was sold to the Spanish cosmetics group Puig in 2016 to facilitate international expansion. However, the controlling interest remains with the Freeman family (specifically Christopher Freeman, who purchased the company in 1994). The products are primarily manufactured in Brazil at their factory in Japeri, Rio de Janeiro.
