Seiko is a world-renowned watchmaker with a legacy of innovation dating back to its founding in Tokyo in 1881. The brand is famous for introducing the world's first quartz watch and, as seen in this image, the Kinetic movement technology, which converts kinetic energy from the wearer's wrist movement into electrical energy to power the watch.
Manufacturing for Seiko watches is strategically distributed. High-end movements and Grand Seiko models are typically produced in Japan at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio. Standard consumer models, like many in the Kinetic or Seiko 5 lines, are often assembled in the company's facilities in Japan, Malaysia, or China, depending on the specific model and target market.
Seiko remains an independent Japanese giant, owned by the Seiko Group. Unlike many Swiss brands that have been absorbed by large conglomerates, Seiko maintains a vertically integrated manufacturing process, producing nearly every component of their watches in-house.
