siggi's is a brand focused on Icelandic-style yogurt, known as skyr, which is characterized by its thick texture and low sugar content. The brand was famously founded in New York City by Siggi Hilmarsson, an Icelandic native who missed the traditional thick yogurt of his homeland.
Starting as a small boutique operation at farmers' markets, the brand grew into a national sensation, emphasizing clean labeling and simple ingredients. In 2018, the French dairy powerhouse Lactalis acquired siggi's through its subsidiary, further expanding its global reach. For the Canadian market, siggi's products are manufactured domestically in Canada using Canadian milk, supported by the Lactalis Canada network. This allows the brand to maintain its core Icelandic recipe while meeting local dairy standards and supporting regional agriculture.
