Mackintosh's is a historic British confectionery brand most famous for creating Quality Street. The brand dates back to 1890, when John Mackintosh and his wife opened a pastry shop in Halifax, West Yorkshire, where they invented a new kind of sweet by mixing hard toffee with soft caramel. Quality Street was launched in 1936, revolutionizing the market with its variety of individually wrapped chocolates and toffees in a distinctive tin.

In 1969, Mackintosh merged with Rowntree's to become Rowntree Mackintosh, which was later acquired by the Swiss conglomerate Nestlé in 1988. While the brand is synonymous with British heritage and major production still takes place in Halifax, UK, the product is now manufactured in multiple locations globally to serve international markets. Today, the brand remains a core part of Nestlé's global confectionery portfolio, managed under their international headquarters in Switzerland.
