Saeco Poemia espresso machine

Saeco is a historic Italian brand founded in Gaggio Montano, Italy, in 1981 by Sergio Zappella and Arthur Schmed. The brand revolutionized the home coffee market by inventing the first fully automatic espresso machine in 1985. Known for blending traditional Italian coffee culture with modern engineering, Saeco became a premium name in kitchen appliances.

In 2009, the brand was acquired by the Dutch multinational Philips. Since then, while the design and engineering often retain Italian roots, the manufacturing of consumer models like the Poemia has largely shifted to global production sites, particularly in China, to improve market reach. Today, Saeco operates as part of the Philips Domestic Appliances division, which was sold to Hillhouse Investment in 2021 and renamed Versuni, maintaining the brand's presence in the premium coffee segment.
