Bresso is a well-known brand of cream cheese specialty products, originally inspired by French culinary traditions but specifically developed for the German market. The brand was first launched in 1975 by the Edelweiss company in Kempten, Germany. It became famous for its airy, whipped texture and inclusion of aromatic herbs, particularly those characteristic of the Provence region.
Today, Bresso is owned by Savencia Fromage & Dairy (formerly Soparind Bongrain), a global leader in specialty cheeses based in France. While the brand has deep roots in Germany and much of its production for the local market remains there (specifically at the Edelweiss plant in Allgäu), it is part of an international portfolio. The 'Feine Häppchen' product line features small, bite-sized cream cheese medallions topped with herbs and spices, designed as a convenience snack or appetizer.
