Metabo is a historic German manufacturer founded in the 1920s in Nürtingen, where its main factory and headquarters remain to this day. Known for producing high-durability power tools for professional users, the brand name derives from 'Metallbohrdreher' (metal drill).
In 2016, Metabo was acquired by the Japanese group Koki Holdings (formerly Hitachi Koki), which in turn is owned by the global investment company KKR. While professional-grade tools like orbital sanders are still primarily manufactured in Germany to maintain quality standards, the company also utilizes global production facilities in China and other locations for various product lines and components. This blend of German engineering and Japanese corporate support has positioned Metabo as a leading player in the professional tools market.
