Verbatim is a historic name in data storage, originally founded in the United States in 1969. The brand became globally recognized for its floppy disks, CDs, and later, flash storage solutions. Over the decades, the brand's focus has expanded into mobile accessories, including high-capacity power banks like the 100W model shown in the image, which features GaN technology and digital status displays.
In terms of ownership, Verbatim underwent a significant transition in 2020. Previously owned by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation for nearly 30 years, it was acquired by CMC Magnetics Corporation, a Taiwan-based global leader in optical media manufacturing. This acquisition consolidated the brand's manufacturing and distribution under CMC Magnetics. While the brand has American roots and its global headquarters for Verbatim GmbH remains in Eschborn, Germany, the physical manufacturing of its electronic accessories primarily takes place in China.
