Loctite is a globally recognized brand specializing in high-performance adhesives, sealants, and surface treatments. The brand was founded in 1953 by Professor Vernon Krieble in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, initially known as American Sealants Company. It revolutionized industrial manufacturing with the invention of anaerobic resins that cure in the absence of air, specifically designed to lock threaded fasteners.
In 1997, Loctite was acquired by the German consumer goods and industrial company Henkel. Today, Loctite products are manufactured in various locations worldwide, including major facilities in Ireland, the United States, and China, to serve international industrial and consumer markets. Henkel, headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, remains the ultimate owner of the brand, integrating it into its Adhesive Technologies business unit.
