Nissan is a cornerstone of the global automotive industry, with a heritage that dates back to the early 20th century in Japan. The Nissan Leaf, which is the model featured in the image (identifiable by its distinctive NISMO badging and electric blue accents), was a pioneer in the mass-market electric vehicle segment. Historically, Nissan's journey began with the Kwaishinsha Motor Car Works and the Datsun brand before evolving into the global powerhouse it is today.
Today, Nissan operates as part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. While Nissan maintains its unique brand identity and Japanese headquarters in Yokohama, its ownership and strategic direction are shared through a cross-shareholding agreement with French manufacturer Renault. Manufacturing for the Leaf model specifically is heavily concentrated in the Oppama plant in Japan, although Nissan maintains a vast global production footprint spanning the UK, USA, and beyond to serve diverse international markets.
