Cello is a hallmark of the Indian stationery market, renowned for producing smooth-writing instruments like the Butterflow Simply Ball Pen shown here. Originally founded in India, the brand became a household name by offering high-quality, reliable pens at accessible price points.
In a significant shift of ownership, the French multinational Société Bic (widely known as BIC) acquired a majority stake in Cello Pens in 2009, eventually taking full ownership in 2015. This acquisition integrated Cello's extensive Indian manufacturing network with BIC's global distribution and research capabilities. Today, while the Cello brand maintains its strong Indian heritage and primary production facilities in India, it is part of the global BIC family, headquartered in France.
