The brand was originally established by the Karlovarské minerální vody (KMV) company in the Czech Republic. Historically, the water was bottled near the famous spa town of Karlovy Vary. Today, it remains a domestic leader in the bottled water market.

Currently, the brand is part of the Mattoni 1873 group, which is the largest producer of soft drinks in Central Europe. The ultimate ownership lies with the Pasquale family, originally from Italy, who revitalized the Czech mineral water industry after privatization. The company is headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, and continues to expand its portfolio across several European markets while maintaining its core production facilities at the source in Western Bohemia.
