Four Roses is a historic Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey brand founded in 1888 by Paul Jones Jr. According to brand lore, the name was inspired by a romantic gesture involving a corsage of four red roses. While it was once the top-selling bourbon in the United States, the brand underwent significant shifts in ownership and distribution strategies throughout the late 20th century.
Today, the whiskey is exclusively distilled and aged at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, using a unique process combining two mash bills and five proprietary yeast strains. The brand is currently owned by the Japanese beverage giant Kirin Holdings Company, which acquired the brand in 2002 and focused on restoring its availability and prestigious reputation in the American market.
