Due to a complex legal dispute over brand ownership in the early 1990s, the brand was registered in the United States by its founders, the Figueroa brothers.

Today, Melinda's products are primarily manufactured in Colombia to take advantage of the region's high-quality agricultural output and pepper cultivation. The brand remains under the private ownership of Melinda's Foods, LLC, which is headquartered in Irving, Texas. They have expanded their line from the original Habanero recipes to include extreme heat options like the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) sauce shown here, maintaining a balance between significant heat and flavor complexity.
