Sensodyne is a world-renowned oral health brand specifically designed for people with sensitive teeth. The brand was originally created by Block Drug, an American pharmaceutical company based in Brooklyn, New York, in 1961. It became a global leader in the dental care market by focusing on potassium nitrate and stannous fluoride formulations to alleviate tooth sensitivity.
In 2001, the multinational giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) acquired Block Drug. However, following a significant corporate restructuring in 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into a new, independent publicly traded company called Haleon. Today, Haleon is the ultimate owner of the Sensodyne brand.
Manufacturing for Sensodyne is decentralized to serve various global markets efficiently. Major production facilities are located in the United Kingdom (Maidenhead), the United States, and India, among other regional manufacturing hubs. This allows the brand to maintain a dominant presence in pharmacies and retail stores across the globe.
