Yates Zero Weedkiller is a prominent garden herbicide brand widely used in Australia and New Zealand. The brand originated in the late 19th century when Arthur Yates established his seed business in Sydney, Australia, in 1887. Over more than a century, Yates has become a household name synonymous with gardening and plant care in the Oceania region.
While originally an independent Australian company, Yates underwent several ownership changes. Since 2026 and for the foreseeable future, it is owned by DuluxGroup, a leading manufacturer and marketer of premium products for decorative and protective coatings. DuluxGroup itself was acquired by Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd., a major Japanese multinational company, which serves as the ultimate parent entity. Despite international ownership, the product is primarily manufactured in Australia to serve the local gardening market.
