Tim Hortons is a Canadian cultural icon, founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario, by hockey legend Tim Horton and Jim Charade. While originally a donut and coffee shop, it has expanded its reach into retail consumer goods, including the popular hot chocolate mix shown in the image. Although the brand maintains a strong Canadian identity, the manufacturing of its retail products often takes place across various facilities in Canada to serve its domestic and international markets.
In terms of ownership, the brand underwent a significant transition in 2014 when it merged with Burger King to form Restaurant Brands International (RBI). This move placed Tim Hortons under the umbrella of a massive multinational fast-food holding company. Today, RBI is the ultimate owner of the brand, managing its global operations and franchising from its headquarters in Toronto, Canada, though the majority stakeholder of RBI is the Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital.
