Elocom is a well-known brand of topical corticosteroid (mometasone furoate) used to treat various skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. The brand was originally developed by Schering-Plough, an American pharmaceutical company founded in the late 19th century.
Following the 2009 merger of Schering-Plough and Merck & Co. (known as MSD outside the US and Canada), the brand became part of the MSD portfolio. However, in 2021, Merck spun off its women's health, legacy brands, and biosimilars businesses into a new independent public company called Organon. Consequently, Elocom is now owned and distributed globally by Organon. Manufacturing occurs in several specialized pharmaceutical facilities worldwide to meet global demand.
