Jacob's is one of the most heritage-rich brands in the biscuit and cracker industry, renowned for products like Cream Crackers and Twiglets. The brand's history began in 1851 in Waterford, Ireland, founded by the Jacob family. It quickly expanded its footprint, becoming a staple in both Irish and British households. Since its inception, the brand has navigated various industrial changes, leading to a split in ownership across different geographical markets.
Today, the Jacob's brand is managed by two distinct global entities. In the United Kingdom, the brand is owned by Pladis, a global snacking company that integrated Jacob's alongside other famous names like McVitie's. In Ireland, the brand remains under the ownership of Valeo Foods. Manufacturing primarily takes place in Aintree, England, for the UK market, while several other facilities across Europe and internationally support production to meet global demand.
Ownership of the brand is currently centered under the Yıldız Holding group for the British operations through its subsidiary Pladis. This transition has turned the once-local Irish bakery into a major international player, ensuring that its classic recipes reach consumers across the globe while maintaining the traditional standards set over a century ago.
