Originally formulated with sodium bicarbonate to help treat bleeding gums, it has become a global leader in the gingivitis-treatment segment. The brand was historically part of the GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) Consumer Healthcare portfolio.

Following a corporate demerger in 2022, Parodontax is now owned by Haleon, a British multinational consumer healthcare company. Manufacturing is global to meet regional demands, with major production facilities located in the United Kingdom, Slovakia, and other international sites.
