Eisenbahn is a renowned Brazilian craft beer brand founded in 2002 in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, a region with deep German heritage. The brand's name, which means 'railway' in German, and its logo featuring a steam locomotive, pay tribute to the historical rail line that ran near the original brewery.
Originally established by the family of Juliano Mendes, the brewery aimed to bring traditional European brewing techniques to the Brazilian market. Its success caught the attention of major industry players. In 2008, it was acquired by Schincariol, which was later purchased by the Japanese group Kirin (Kirin Holdings). In 2017, Heineken acquired Kirin's Brazilian operations (Brasil Kirin), making Eisenbahn a flagship brand within Heineken's Brazilian craft beer portfolio.
Today, Eisenbahn products are primarily manufactured in Brazil at various Heineken-owned facilities. Despite being part of a global conglomerate, the brand maintains its artisanal reputation by adhering to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) for most of its product line.
