V.I.P. Petfoods (Very Important Pets) is a prominent Australian pet food brand originally founded in 1994 by the Quinn family on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The brand quickly grew into one of the largest manufacturers of chilled pet food globally, known for its focus on nutrition and quality Australian-sourced ingredients. In 2015, the company was acquired by the private equity firm Quadrant Private Equity for approximately $410 million, which later led to the formation of Real Pet Food Co.
Today, V.I.P. Petfoods is part of the Real Pet Food Co, which transitioned to new ownership in late 2017 when it was acquired by a Chinese-led consortium involving New Hope Group, Hosen Capital, and Temasek. Despite the international ownership, the brand remains deeply rooted in Australia, with the majority of its manufacturing occurring in facilities across the country, particularly in Queensland. The Chunkers range remains a staple in Australian supermarkets, maintaining its reputation as a locally manufactured product using fresh Australian meat.
