Brand History and Origin

Big Cola is a flagship brand created by the Añaños family in Ayacucho, Peru, during the late 1980s. The brand was born out of necessity during a period of civil unrest in Peru, which prevented larger international beverage companies from making regular deliveries to the region. The family began producing their own affordable soft drinks, eventually forming the company known today as AJE Group.

Manufacturing and Global Presence

Big Cola is produced in multiple countries across Latin America, Asia, and Africa. AJE Group operates numerous bottling plants in countries such as Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Egypt. This localized production model allows the brand to maintain its competitive pricing and accessibility in emerging markets, adhering to its core philosophy of democratizing consumption.

Ownership and Corporate Structure

Today, Big Cola remains under the ultimate ownership of AJE (Grupo AJE), which is headquartered in Lima, Peru. The company has grown into one of the largest multinational beverage producers in the world. As of 2024 and looking toward 2025, AJE Group continues to operate as a private family-owned entity, with regional subsidiaries managing distribution and marketing in specific local markets across the globe.
