Clipper Tea is a prominent British tea brand founded in 1984 by Mike and Lorraine Brehme in Beaminster, Dorset. The brand is celebrated as a pioneer in the ethical tea market, having become the UK's first Fairtrade tea brand. Known for its commitment to natural ingredients and eco-friendly packaging, Clipper produces its wide range of organic teas, infusions, and coffees at its dedicated factory in Dorset, England.
While it maintains its distinct British identity and heritage, the brand has undergone changes in ownership to support its global reach. In 2012, Clipper was acquired by the Dutch company Royal Wessanen, which later rebranded as Ecotone. This ownership has allowed Clipper to expand its mission of sustainability across Europe while keeping its manufacturing roots firmly planted in the UK. Today, Clipper remains a key player in the organic beverage sector, continuing to distribute unbleached, plant-based tea bags from its original Dorset home.
