The Gibson ES-175 is a legendary hollow-body electric guitar originally introduced in 1949. It became a flagship instrument for jazz guitarists due to its deep body and warm tone. Originally created by Gibson Brands, Inc. in Kalamazoo, Michigan, production later moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
Today, the brand remains a symbol of American craftsmanship. Gibson is owned by an investor group led by KKR & Co. Inc., following a financial restructuring in 2018. While Gibson produces some lower-priced models abroad under the Epiphone brand, the core Gibson-branded ES-175 models are manufactured in the United States, specifically at their high-end hollow-body facility.
