Delhaize is a historic supermarket brand with deep roots in Belgian retail history. Founded in 1867 by Jules Delhaize and his brothers, the company revolutionized the grocery industry in Europe by introducing the branch system and private label goods. Today, Delhaize private label products range from everyday essentials to premium gourmet items under various sub-brands like '365' and 'Delhaize Taste of Inspirations'.
In 2016, Delhaize Group underwent a significant corporate evolution by merging with the Dutch retail giant Ahold to form Ahold Delhaize. This merger created one of the world's largest food retail groups, with a dominant presence in both Europe and the United States. While the Delhaize brand remains quintessentially Belgian in its identity and primary manufacturing base, it now benefits from the global supply chain and logistical expertise of its parent company, headquartered in Zaandam, Netherlands.
