Borsec is one of the most prestigious mineral water brands in Eastern Europe, often referred to as the 'Queen of Mineral Waters.' This title was famously bestowed upon it by Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria-Hungary in 1873. The water is sourced from the Borsec resort in the Eastern Carpathian Mountains, a location renowned for its therapeutic springs and pristine environment since the 18th century.
The industrial bottling of Borsec began in 1806, making it a brand with over two centuries of history. Today, the production remains tied to its geographical origin in Harghita County, Romania, where it is bottled directly at the source to preserve its natural carbonation and mineral composition. The brand is currently owned and managed by Romaqua Group, the largest domestic player in the Romanian beverage market, which has modernized the facilities while maintaining the heritage of the spring.
