Thiele Eyewear

Thiele is one of Denmark's oldest and most prominent retail optician chains, with a history dating back to 1817. Founded by Frederik Anton Thiele in Copenhagen, the company originally started as a manufacturer and retailer of scientific, mathematical, and optical instruments. Over two centuries, it evolved from a family-owned craft business into a modern retail leader in the eyewear industry.

Today, Thiele operates as a major chain of opticians across Denmark, providing prescription glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. While the brand itself is Danish, the manufacturing of the frames and lenses it sells is distributed globally. High-end frames are often sourced from Italy, Japan, and Germany, while other components may be produced in manufacturing hubs across Asia. In 2005, the fifth generation of the Thiele family sold the majority of the company to Jens Henrik Brandt, who remains the primary owner today.
