Africana is a well-known chocolate brand in Romania, historically recognized as one of the most popular value-segment chocolate bars in the country. The brand was originally created by the Romanian company Poiana (Excelent), which played a significant role in the local confectionery market after 1990.

In the mid-1990s, the brand and its parent factory in Brașov were acquired by the multinational food conglomerate Kraft Foods. Through corporate restructuring and brand migrations, the ownership eventually transitioned to Mondelez International following the split of Kraft Foods. While the brand has deep Romanian roots and was traditionally manufactured in Brașov, production has been consolidated across Mondelez's European manufacturing network, though it remains a staple specifically within the Romanian market. Today, the brand is managed under the umbrella of Mondelez, a global leader in snacks and confectionery.
