Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, virtual reality, and, formerly, video games.
Originally developed as an in-house application by the Dutch animation studio NeoGeo in the 1990s, the software was transitioned to an open-source model through the Blender Foundation. Because it is community-driven and open-source, its development occurs worldwide through a global network of contributors, though the primary governing body is based in the Netherlands. The image shows the software running on a MacBook Pro, demonstrating its cross-platform compatibility used by designers and artists internationally.
