Voltaren is a well-known brand of anti-inflammatory medication originally developed in Switzerland. The specific 'Emulgel' formulation was created to allow the active ingredient, diclofenac, to penetrate the skin effectively.
Originally a product of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Ciba-Geigy (which later became part of Novartis), the brand's consumer healthcare division underwent significant changes. In 2015, Novartis and GSK formed a consumer healthcare joint venture. Eventually, this division was spun off into an independent global company called Haleon in 2022. Today, Voltaren is produced in several manufacturing hubs worldwide, including facilities in Germany and elsewhere, to serve various international markets.
