Solomon footwear and outdoor equipment

Salomon is a historic brand specializing in outdoor sports equipment, notably footwear and skiing gear. Originally founded in Annecy, France, the brand has grown into a global leader in trail running and alpine sports. While its heritage and design remain deeply rooted in the French Alps, the manufacturing process today occurs across multiple countries, including Vietnam, China, and Romania, to meet international demand.

The brand has undergone several changes in ownership since its inception. After being part of the Salomon Group and later acquired by Adidas in 1997, it was sold to the Finnish conglomerate Amer Sports in 2005. In 2019, Amer Sports, including Salomon, was acquired by a consortium led by the Chinese sportswear giant Anta Sports. Consequently, while Salomon remains a French-designed brand, its ultimate corporate ownership is currently based in China.
