Penha is a traditional Portuguese confectionery brand best known for its iconic 'rebuçados' (hard candies). Founded in the 1930s, the brand has become a staple of Portuguese snacks, recognized for its vintage-inspired packaging and classic flavors like menthol, fruit, and honey.
The Mentol variety shown in the image is a refreshing hard-boiled candy that uses menthol and eucalyptus flavors. These candies are manufactured in Portugal by Imperial, which is the largest chocolate and confectionery producer in the country. Imperial manages several historical Portuguese brands, ensuring that traditional recipes are maintained while utilizing modern production facilities in Vila do Conde.
Since 2017, the brand has been under the ultimate ownership of the Vall Companys Group, a Spanish family-owned agri-food giant. This acquisition helped stabilize and expand the distribution of Penha products across international markets while maintaining their Portuguese heritage and manufacturing base.
